Software Test Engineer (STE)
Location: US – Seattle, Washington
Are you looking for an opportunity to take your testing skills to the next level working on cutting edge products used every day by people you know? Does the opportunity to work on the iPhone, GPS and web 2.0 technologies excite you? If you are looking to make a big splash as a Functional Tester in a high-energy startup, we are what you have been looking for.
At Pelago, we want you to be involved from the instant a new feature or technology is designed. We expect you to use your technical background to predict failures and bring them to light before the code is created as well as understand the architecture of the application and be able to discern failure points from that. Idea sharing is a key aspect of our culture. We expect you to collaborate with other testers, SDE’s and PM’s on the project to create world class test plans and test cases. Most importantly, you must be able to understand what bugs will drive customers away and which fixes will greatly improve user experience. Fighting for the right thing for the customer is job #1.
Pelago's flagship product is Whrrl, a new application for discovering places and events you’re likely to be interested in, based on where you and your friends actually go. We’re shipping Whrrl on mobile, SMS, and web, and are currently developing for BREW and iPhone. Our goal is to have Whrrl available to our customers where ever and whenever they need it so that means lots of handsets, lots of browsers, and lots of platforms. It’s paramount that Whrrl always feel like the same application regardless of platform and provide high quality experiences for our customers.
As with most start-ups, we have new features coming all the time so we have a fast paced environment with a culture of self-directed execution. If you are ready to learn new skills, work with successful, high quality people across the company and be a world class tester then we invite you to submit your resume. The entry point to applying for this job is integrity, commitment, a bias towards action, and ambition to do more than just your job description. Of course, we expect the business basics: promptness, attention to detail, solid written communication, respect for co-workers, and ability to focus on the task at hand.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Min 2 years of experience as a Functional Tester or IT Engineer
- Working knowledge, experience and demonstrated ability to create organized test cases
- Familiar with architecting test plans for groups of features, testing best practices and a variety of test strategies
- Experience with multiple OS and Browser platforms
- Bachelors Degree in a technical field, scripting and programming skills, and experience with a phone lab or mobile test are pluses, but not required.
