The Museum is housed in an eclectic-style building which combines Gothic, Baroque and Art Nouveau elements dating from 1897-1900 and opened to public in 2017. The museum based on the collection of Maria Argyriadi that is among the most important in Europe. It includes a variety of very interesting collections, 20,000 toys, games and childhood items, from antiquity to modern times originating not only from Greece but almost all around world. The Greek collection includes handmade traditional toys, fairground and commercially-produced toys, board games and group street games as well as childhood customs. It includes also a collection based on childhood memories created by members of Social Clubs for the Elderly. The European collection includes exhibits mostly from England, France and Germany from 18th to 20th centuries such us urban and folk toys as well as European-made dolls dressed in traditional costume from various areas of Greece.
