In the Yaeyama Islands, the traditional wooden boat “Sabani” has been passed down for generations.
This tour offers a rare opportunity to learn from the only boatbuilder on Ishigaki Island through a hands-on boat-building experience, followed by a sailing experience where you navigate using the wind and waves.
You’ll gain a deep understanding of nature, as well as the island’s history and culture.

Gather at the shipyard and learn about the history of Sabani from boat craftsman Tomohiro Yoshida.10:15 — Kuurabe Beach
Transfer to the beach and experience sailing and handling the traditional Sabani boat.11:15 — Break & Transfer
Enjoy a short break, shower, and transfer back to the shipyard.11:30 — Sabani Making: Part 1
Join a workshop to experience traditional Okinawan shipbuilding techniques.12:30 — Lunch
