Highlights

This 5-day trek is an unforgettable adventure that blends hiking, nature, and ancient history. It’s an extended version of the popular Ciudad Perdida (Lost City) tour, taking you deep into Colombia’s Sierra Nevada.

You’ll hike about 6 hours a day through the jungle and stay in camps run by local indigenous communities who preserve their traditional way of life.

The journey leads to Teyuna, the Lost City, where the energy and mystery of the past are still alive. Due to the heat, humidity, and daily hiking, this trek is considered moderately to highly challenging.

If you prefer to take the most popular and shorter version, take our 4 days tour: https://www.viator.com/tours/Santa-Marta/Los-City-Trek/d4520-120233P11

After about a 2.5-hour drive, you’ll arrive in El Mamey, where you’ll stop for lunch and fuel up before hitting the trail. This first stretch offers a chance to swim and soak in the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada jungle. You’ll reach Camp 1 around 6:30 PM, where you’ll enjoy dinner and a well-earned rest, sleeping in hammocks or beds with mosquito nets. During the 5-day trek to the Lost City, you’ll be crossing several rivers on foot—so expect to get your feet wet. It’s a good idea to pack extra sandals or water shoes in your backpack to keep your main hiking boots dry. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can go barefoot like our guide in the photo! Keep in mind: if your trekking shoes get wet early on, they’ll likely stay that way for the rest of the trip—better to be prepared than uncomfortable!
