    Legend has it that in 628 AD, fishermen found a statue of Guanyin in the Sumida River, and built Senso-ji Temple to enshrine the statue. It is nearly 4 meters high and weighs 700 kilograms, which is very impressive. On both sides of the Thunder Gate are statues of the God of Wind and the God of Thunder.
