Wander into George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site and enjoy a local breakfast followed by a comprehensive tour of the local markets. Your cooking class will be led by Nazlina, a Malaysian culinary author featured in the New York Times, BBC Good Food, and several magazines. You'll learn to cook Penang food like a local in Nazlina's 100-year-old shophouse in the heart of the heritage zone in George Town.
All equipment in the cooking studio is of the highest quality, including German-made stainless steel products, steamers, pans and woks.
Nazlina's class is very engaging and we learnt a lot of cooking techniques on top of the recipe for the dishes. The pace of the class was just right considering that we booked on a day where we were the only couple. Nazlina also gave us the option of choosing what we wanted to cook (2 mains and 1 dessert/side) . Overall a 5/5 experience, would highly recommend!
We had a fantastic experience with Nazlina, who is both highly knowledgeable and skilled in cooking. The day began with a traditional breakfast of kopi tarik and teh tarik at a local shop before heading to the market. During the market tour, Nazlina shared fascinating stories about local culture and ingredients, bringing the history to life. Afterwards, we returned to her home, where we cooked in a lovely open-air kitchen. Our menu included roti canai, chicken korma, and tomato rice—all prepared from scratch. It was a great hands-on experience, full of new skills, and truly a must-do when visiting Penang.
We had an enjoyable time with Nazlina, learning about the variety of products in the local market. The cooking class was informative and interesting.
It was like I wold like to teach the other people how to cook, so it vas perfect to me. 😊
Love the walk around to where stories and information was shared about the hawker culture and other interesting tips. Would have been great if the menu for the cooking class was shared beforehand
