Bonsai is the Japanese art of growing and shaping miniature trees in containers, with a long documented history of influences and native Japanese development over a thousand years, and with unique aesthetics, cultural history, and terminology derived from its evolution in Japan.
The practice of bonsai development incorporates a number of techniques either unique to bonsai or, if used in other forms of cultivation, applied in unusual ways that are particularly suitable to the bonsai domain.
In these experiences, you will learn the basics of bonsai, including an explanation of what bonsai is, its historical roots in Japan, and an introduction to Bonsai-machi (Bonsai Town). You will also learn daily care techniques for bonsai.
The activity is located on the 5th floor of Tobu Department Store Ikebukuro, directly connected to the west exit of Ikebukuro Station. The store also has many bonsai tools and pots. There are also many bonsai for sale on the 8th floor rooftop.
