The foremost is the famous Mzima Springs, where up to 227.3 million liters of cool, crystal-clear water flows out of the ground through porous volcanic rocks. The water is believed to originate from Chyulu Hills via an underground river. Here you will also meet the vast red-dust elephants, among other wildlife species such as lions, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species. You can also visit (and climb) the Chaimu Crater Viewpoint, a volcano less than 200 years old and composed of black coke. This area is an excellent place to look out for klipspringer, a small antelope that is as agile as its Swahili name refers to mbuzi mawe, or mountain goat. In the southwest corner of Tsavo West National Park is Lake Jipe, which has the Kenyan-Tanzanian border running through it.
