[Nagaoka Festival Fireworks Display]

It is one of Japan's three major fireworks festivals, alongside Omagari and
Tsuchiura. It is held every year on August 2nd and 3rd in Nagaoka City,
Niigata Prefecture. Set on the banks of the Shinano River, approximately
20,000 fireworks are launched over the two days, with large-scale displays
such as "Phoenix" and "Niagara" being spectacular. "Phoenix" was launched in
hopes of recovery from the Niigata Chuetsu earthquake that struck the area in
2004. It is an impressive and powerful fireworks festival that captivates many
spectators.
