We start our tour visiting Fira, the economic, political and commercial center of the island. Fira is a town of white-washed houses built on the edge of the 400 metres high caldera. Akrotiri is a small fishing village but the fact that such a spectacle civilization had been developed here 3.600 years ago makes it a special destination and a definitely must see. The ancient city of Akrotiri is one of the most important archaeological discoveries in the Eastern Mediterranean.
