About Furano Winery (Furano City Grape and Tree Fruits Research Institute)
Over 50 years ago, in the 1960s, grapevines were nonexistent in Furano's landscape, aside from wild mountain grapes. However, with Furano’s climate and soil resembling those of Europe's premier wine regions, interest in winemaking grew, leading to the establishment of the Furano City Grape and Tree Fruits Research Institute.
Since its founding, countless passionate individuals have dedicated themselves to experimental research and production development, creating what is now the beloved Furano Wine. Furano Wine is a municipally managed winery that uses locally grown Furano grapes. Savor the unique flavors of wine crafted from the region’s terroir.
The cheese factory staff could not find out booking in their records. After some checking, they decided to let us proceed with the cheese making. I hope they manage to find our booking. The experience was great. Although the staff could not speak English there are instructions in English. Please bring your own cooler bag to store the cheese if you don’t want to buy from them. The wine tasting was smoother, I just told them I have a booking for 5 and they will give 5 tokens for each pax. As I have 2 below the drinking age, they refunded ¥1000 each pax. They are also free wine for tasting (low grade).
