Easy to use. Zoom in on the QR code and make sure your phone screen brightness is to the max, and then scan at the right side of the gantry. For those arriving at KLIA 2, once you exit from the arrival hall, go straight until you see Uniqlo. Turn left at Uniqlo and you can see the entrance of KLIA Express with the purple signage at the top.

Did the trick. I had my printed ticket ready in advance using the $10 Scoot discount, so there was no need to queue at a counter or fumble with a confusing ticket machine after a long flight. Just scan at the gate and go. Would definitely purchase again.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the KLIA Ekspres airport train tickets (QR code direct entry) both ways?
Yes, you can use the KLIA express train both ways as long as you purchase the return ticket option. This covers travel from KLIA/KLIA2 to KL Sentral and back again.

The return ticket must be used within its validity period, which is usually 30 to 31 days from your selected travel date.

Single tickets purchased online or in person are one-way only, so you’ll need a return KLIA Ekspres ticket if you want to travel in both directions. The QR code works for direct entry at the gates on each trip.
Can I get a refund for KLIA Ekspres airport train tickets (QR code direct entry)?
No, KLIA Ekspres airport train tickets (QR code direct entry) are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. They’re also non-transferable, so all purchases are final.
What's the difference between KLIA Transit and KLIA Ekspres train?
KLIA Transit makes three stops along the way at Bandar Tasik Selatan, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya, and Salak Tinggi, taking about 35 to 39 minutes. It’s designed for both travellers and daily commuters.

KLIA Ekspres, on the other hand, runs non-stop between KL Sentral and KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 in just 28 minutes. Both services share the same track but use different ticketing systems and routes.
How do you travel between terminals in KLIA?
You can travel between KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 using the free shuttle bus or the KLIA Transit train. Both options make it easy to move between terminals, with quick connections and clear signage at the airport.
What time does the KLIA Express start?
The KLIA Ekspres first train leaves KL Sentral at 5am for both KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, with services running every 20 minutes until midnight.

From the airport, the first train from KLIA T1 departs at 5am, while KLIA T2 starts slightly earlier at 4:55am. Trains also run every 20 minutes back to KL Sentral. For the latest schedule updates, it’s best to check the KLIA Ekspres timetable before your trip.
How much is the KLIA Express ticket?
The KLIA Express ticket price is RM 50 for a one-way adult fare, and RM 50 for children aged 6 to 15. Return tickets cost RM 100 for adults and RM 45 for children. Kids below 6 travel free, with up to three free child tickets allowed per paying adult.

If you book the KLIA Express through platforms like Pelago, return tickets may be slightly cheaper, with online fares priced at RM 92 at the time of writing. You can also earn KrisFlyer miles on every booking and enjoy occasional discounts featured in our promo code guide.
Can I buy a KLIA Ekspres ticket on the spot?
Yes, you can buy KLIA Ekspres tickets on the spot at self-service kiosks or ticket counters at KLIA Terminal 1, KLIA Terminal 2, and KL Sentral. It’s a simple walk-up purchase if you prefer to sort your ticket after landing.

If you have a Touch ’n Go card, you can also tap it directly at the gates for immediate boarding. If not, booking your KLIA Ekspres ticket online through platforms like Pelago is the easiest option, especially if you want peace of mind before you travel.
Is KLIA Express cheaper than a taxi?
Yes, the KLIA Express can be cheaper than taking a taxi or Grab, especially if you’re travelling solo or as a pair. A taxi from KLIA to KL Sentral usually costs between RM 75 and RM 100+, depending on whether you choose a budget or premier taxi. Grab fares often range from RM 50 to RM 70. Prices can climb higher during peak hours, and waits may be longer too. Fares are similar from both KLIA Terminals 1 and 2.

You should also factor in the journey time. The KLIA Ekspres takes less than 30 minutes to reach the city, while a taxi or Grab can take an hour or more in traffic. For larger groups, a taxi or Grab may still work out better than buying multiple train tickets, so weigh what matters most to you: speed, cost, or convenience.
