Highlights
Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya, and the second highest in Africa (after Mount Kilimanjaro). The highest peaks of the mountain are Batian (5,199 m – 17,058 ft), Nelion (5,188 m – 17,022 ft) and Lenana (4,985 m – 16,355 ft). Mount Kenya is located in central Kenya, just south of the equator, around 150 km (95 miles) north-northeast of Nairobi. The area around the mountain is protected in the Mount Kenya National Park, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The National Park is around 620 km² (240 square miles), and receives up to 15,000 visitors every year.

Afternoon will be spent walking around the lodge with a view of beautiful sceneries. After dinner an overnight stay at the Meru Mount Kenya Bandas. At the Bandas there are only single beds. D5 Details: Just before dawn we are woken by our guides and hot tea is served before we begin the last leg of our trek to the summit. The trek begins beneath the stars as we zigzag our way up a large scree slope guided only by torch light to reach Pt. Lenana. It's an exhilarating 3 hours from here to reach the hiker's summit, Pt Lenana (4985m) in time for the sunrise!. A further 2 hours down to Shipton's camp (4200m) for a hefty breakfast.
