Drive into Arusha National Park in a 4x4 vehicle up Mount Meru until the edge of the caldera. The caldera is surrounded by a dense rainforest. The rainforest is well known for its abundance of the rare white and black colobus monkeys. Other animals to be spotted here are the buffalos, elephants, warthogs, some antelopes, other monkeys, baboons, leopards and spotted hyenas. There are also many species of birds such as the head hammer, the spur-winged goose and herons. Walk around the rim of this lush, beautiful collapsed volcano and gaze over this special, secluded area with its swamp, grassland and forest which harbor a multitude of wildlife.
