This hands-on workshop lets you create your own lacquer painting using colored lacquer on a 15 cm lacquered plate. A skilled lacquer-painting artisan from Marusan Shikki, a workshop that handles every step from wood base to decoration, will guide you carefully throughout the process.
After the session, you can also tour the workshop to see how traditional lacquerware is made.

  • This activity is available in three time slots: 11:00–13:00 / 13:00–15:00 / 15:00–17:00. Please select your desired time slot.
    This is a meet-on-site and finish-on-site plan. Please check train or bus schedules before making your reservation.
  • Since lacquer is used, your item will be dried at Marusan Lacquerware after the experience and then shipped to you. It will arrive in about 1–2 weeks. (Domestic shipping only; a shipping fee of 880 yen per order will be collected on-site.)
    For overseas customers or those who wish to take their item home the same day, please keep it in a humid place for 2 days after taking it home to ensure proper drying.
  • Foreign language instruction booklets are available upon request at the studio.
