Highlights
Go to the Pre-Angkorian temple complex of Sambor Prei Kuk located about 30 kilometers to the north of the town of Kampong Thom, Cambodia. It was also known as Isanapura, and was the capital of the Chenla Kingdom. Located on the Eastern bank of Tonle Sap close to the Sen River.
Visit Banteay Kdeay Bridge on the way back to Siem Reap. After that, visit Kampong Khleang located on the northern lake-edge about 55 km east of Siem Reap town, more remote and less tourist than Kampong Pluk. Visitors to Kampong Khleang during the dry season are universally awestruck by the forest of stilted houses rising up to 10 meters in the air. In wet season the waters rise up to one or two meters of the buildings.

When the monsoon comes the waters rise up to one or two meters of the buildings. This is a permanent community with subsistence fishing as the main source of livelihood. This is also one of the largest communities on the Tonle Sap lake.
