Our first major stop is Kiunkaku (起雲閣), a renowned villa built in 1919 and celebrated as one of the "three great villas of Atami." Once beloved by the famous literary master Osamu Dazai (太宰治), this estate is an architectural marvel.

Atami Plum Garden (熱海梅園): Japan's Earliest Blooms
Next, we journey to the Atami Plum Garden (熱海梅園), famous for hosting Japan's earliest-blooming plum blossoms. This historic garden features 469 trees across 60 varieties, including ancient trees over 100 years old. During the famous plum blossom festival, you can fully immerse yourself in the fragrant blooms, enjoy the park's foot baths (ashiyu), and browse for local souvenirs.
Itogawa Promenade (糸川遊歩道): Atami's First Cherry Blossoms
To complete this incredible floral experience, we visit the Itogawa Promenade (糸川遊歩道). This charming walkway is lined with the famous Atami-zakura (熱海桜), a special variety of early-blooming cherry blossom.
