One of the things I love about living in Hoi An is the fact that there are so many undiscovered gems around the city. As soon as you drive a little outside of it, you will soon see something astonishing and breathtaking. One of the most beautiful areas near Hoi An is the Son Tra Peninsula, which is not only famous for its amazing views, but it’s also lined up with things to do and see.
Is a breath-taking national park in Da Nang that stands 693 metres above sea level. It’s a 50 minutes drive from Hoi An, making it a popular retreat amongst locals and travellers looking to escape the heat and busy traffic of the city.
Monkey Mountain was a prominent observation base during the American-Vietnam War, housing two radar domes that are now taken over by the Vietnamese military as well as a helicopter pad, which makes for a cool lookout point.

The five mountains are named after the five elements: Kim (metal), Thuy (water), Moc (wood), Hoa (fire) and Tho (earth). All of the mountains have cave entrances and numerous tunnels, and it is possible to climb to the summit of Mount Thuy. Several Buddhist sanctuaries can also be found within the mountains, making this a tourist destination. The area is known for stone sculpture making and stone-cutting crafts.
