To start your birdwatching day hike, drive 16 kilometers from Kathmandu city center. The hike begins in Godawari, which is located in the southern east of the Kathmandu valley. Phulchoki, the destination of the hike, is known as the "hill of flowers" in Nepali.
During spring, the forest on Phulchoki blooms with various species of wildflowers, including the national flower of the country, the Rhododendron. Phulchoki is a high hill in Kathmandu valley, reaching an elevation of 2782 m above sea level. The hill is home to various species of flora and fauna, making it a beautiful place.
Bird lovers will find Phulchoki to be an excellent destination for birding tours, as it houses around 265 species of birds. Some of these include tits, warblers, woodpeckers, thrushes, minivets, eagles, and migrant birds. After this enjoyable birdwatching hike, you can drive back to Kathmandu.
