First, there will be a 15-minute lecture introducing the basics of bonsai, including an explanation of what bonsai is, its historical roots in Japan, and an introduction to Bonsai-machi (Bonsai Town). Although you won't create your own bonsai during this session, you will participate in tasks that artisans perform regularly, such as pruning, moss application, and wire shaping. At the end, you will also learn daily care techniques for bonsai.
While you won't be able to take a bonsai home, you will receive either the scissors used during the workshop or an original samue (traditional workwear) from Seikou-en as a souvenir.
What's Included:
- A 30-minute lecture on bonsai, followed by 30 minutes of hands-on work.
- Photos taken while working in traditional samue attire, as well as pictures of your bonsai and the bonsai you’ve cared for (using your own smartphone or other devices).
- Choose between scissors or a samue jacket (top only).

First, we will have a 15-minute lecture explaining what bonsai is, its roots in Japan, and an introduction to Bonsai-machi. After that, you will participate in the planting process of creating a bonsai from a seedling. You will experience tasks typically performed by artisans, such as pruning, moss placement, and wire shaping. Finally, we will explain how to manage and care for your bonsai on a daily basis.
Although you won't be able to take the bonsai home, you can choose to take home either the scissors used in the workshop or an original samue jacket from Seikouen.
