Highlights
Do a guided hike up one of the mountains outside Tromsø that the locals love. With a guide, you are sure to never get lost, and you get to know the city and the culture in a unique way. The tour is done by professional guides, born and raised in the area that will tell you about life in the world's second-largest city north of the arctic circle, and answer any questions you might have. This is your chance to get a crash course in "Northern Norway".
This excursion takes place during the bright season in the north. The midnight sun is visible from the middle of May to the end of July, but the nights are bright throughout May and well into August.
The view is fantastic more or less all the way, no matter what path we chose. We get to see Tromsø from another angle and the panoramic view of the mountains situated on several of the islands surrounding Tromsø.
Itinerary
The Arctic Cathedral
10 minsAdmission Ticket Not IncludedWe meet by the main entrance of the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsdalen. If you want we can do a quick tour around the church. There is a small admission fee to get into the church that is not included in the price at the moment.Sherpatrappa
50 minsAdmission Ticket FreeWe walk together from the cathedral to the starting point of the Sherpa stairs in Tromsdalen, The walk from the cathedral to the path is about 15-20 min. The Sherpa´s finished the stairs in 2019, and is 1203 steps tall. We make several stops along the way for a nice view and short breaks. Remember to bring a bottle of water.Tromso
3 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeFrom the viewpoint on top of the Storsteinen mountain (where the cable car ends) we do a 1,5km walk to the next mountain peak at 660 meters. This is where you find the Pomor flag, visible from downtown Tromsø. On the way we make a short stop by the Steinbø cabin, and have a snack on top. For the return journey we decide whether we walk the same way down or choose an alternative route along one of the many paths in the area. We end the hike by the pickup point next to the Arctic cathedral.
