Highlights
Tsho Rolpa Trekking in Nepal embodies a traverse through the central Himalayan peaks of Rolwaling mountain ranges. It neighbors the towering Everest massifs to the east and Langtang Range Mountains to its west. Tsho Rolpa Lake is situated in the north eastern vicinity of Dolakha district and Bagmati Province of Nepal. Tsho Rolpa Lake sits at the plinth of Rolwaling Mountains encircling an area of 1.65 kilometers. It is surrounded by white lofty peaks at an altitude of 4540 meters. Tsho Rolpa’s literal translation in Sherpa dialect means “Lake of Rolwaling Valley”. Locals call this lake Chhuygima Pokhari for its color changing water body. Rolwaling region with its glacial and river cut valleys have religious significance for Hindus and Buddhists alike.

Drive from Kathmandu to Chhetchhet, Trek to Simigaon 2020m/2-3 hours

3 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeAfter a sumptuous breakfast at your hotel, we will drive towards our starting point of the trek, Simigaon. From Kathmandu, we take the Araniko Highway for about 75 kilometers before reaching Khadichaur. Bhotekoshi River headed for Dolakha. After 3 hours we get the first glimpse of Tamakoshi River. We drove along the Tamakoshi River for another 2 hours to reach Chhetchhet. Trek from Simigaon to Dongang 2791m/5-6 hours,

6 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeThe first stretch of the trek from Simigaon begins with a descent along the slope. We walk along the edge of a hill before stepping on to stone paved stairs. Dense forests come across our trail which then navigates up and down. We cross the suspension bridge over the Rolwaling River and head further up. You will have your first glimpse of Gaurishankar Mountain during this stretch. Rolwaling Valley
6 hoursAdmission Ticket IncludedWe are heading to the largest Sherpa village of Rolwaling valley, Beding. The traverse first makes its way through dense pine forests. We reached Nyamare after a 3 hour trek for our lunch. This is a small hamlet with not more than 15 houses and is a popular stopover for trekkers. We continue with the journey making small ascents all along the way. We reach the Budhhist hub of Bedding before sunset. There is a prominent Buddhist at the entry gate of Beding village. Trek from Beding to Na 4180m/4-5 hours
Rolwaling Valley
5 hoursAdmission Ticket IncludedToday’s traverse is distinct from the previous day as the elevation reaches beyond 4000 meters. The green lush forests now turn to barren semi-arid hills. We cross along the Rolwaling River walking alongside. As you ascend higher, the Rolwaling valley flattens with a widened river bank. You will pass through numerous pastureland and grassland during the traverse. After 6 hours we come across a huge Mani structure wrapped in Tibetan prayer flags all over. Right beside it is a huge rock wherein Bodhisattva is painted beautifully. Rolwaling Valley
4 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeWe started our hike to Tso Rolpa from Na village early in the morning. The hike takes about 2 hours. The first stretch takes us over a suspension bridge over the Rolwaling River. It then ascends steeply over a dry trail carved into the hill face. The trail then takes its path in between two huge glaciers before revealing a big valley. Tsho Rolpa Lake sits quietly in this valley. On a clear day you will gaze upon the lake to view Rolwaling Mountains being perfectly reflected upon. We explored the lake for a bit and started out descent. Trek from NaGaon to Dongang 2791m/7-8 hours

There are green forests, streams and birds welcoming you during the traverse. Several suspension bridges appear before you on this traverse. Drive from Chhetchhet to Kathmandu by private vehicle 7-8 hours

You travel through various rural villages and small towns before reaching Khadichaur. From here we take Araniko Highway passing through Dhulikhel, Banepa and Bhaktapur before reaching Kathmandu.
