Highlights
Do you like nature walking? If yes, this tour is a wonderful experience for you. We will be hiking into tracks and trails enabling visitors to explore the quieter more unspoiled rural areas of our island. We have also combined the nature walking with visits to important landmarks of northern Cyprus: Bellapais abbey, Kyrenia harbour, Karsiyaka Sinai Monastery, Lapta walkway and Gecitkoy reservoir. We will give interesting information on flora, history and life of this small but interesting island. The tour includes 1 night accommodation, breakfast and snacks during hiking.
Itinerary
Bellapais Monastery Village Hotel
Day 1 - Start the walk at the charming village of Bellapais. We will hike through the village and pass by Lawrence Durrell 's house. He wrote the book ' The bitter Lemons of Cyprus' . After we step out of the village in the beautiful pine trails of Kyrenia range. Lovely views of mediterranean sea. We climb and breathe the fresh air of these peaks. Descend back in the village and visit the abbey. Entrance fee to Abbey 2.25 Eur. Day 2 – Start the walk in the village of Karsiyaka and hike up the village towards the ruins of the Sinai Monastery. A hike around the Monastery is a perfect day out in the nature. The wild flowers are abundant in the spring and rainy season. Very little is known of the monastery, but it is obvious from the ruins that it was once an important building in former times. A large number of granite columns and some statues litter the ground.
