Drive to Matatirtha and Hike to Chitlang

After breakfast, drive about 40 minutes to Matatirtha, a sacred site known as the Mother’s Shrine, where locals gather on Mother’s Day to honor their loved ones. From here, begin your rewarding 4–5 hour hike through peaceful trails surrounded by lush subtropical forests. As you ascend to Deurali Ridge, take in panoramic views of the Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, Gaurishanker, and even Mt. Everest on clear days. Descend toward Chitlang, an ancient Newar settlement rich in heritage, dotted with centuries-old temples, stone water spouts, and charming homes. Kulekhani has the biggest artificial lake called Indra Sarovar. The lake is created due to Kulekhani Dam that is used to produce hydroelectricity. You can enjoy activities like boating and fishing. Due to its amazing landscapes, it is best for adventurous tourism. After spending some moment in the area, you will have lunch in Kunchhal and then drive back to Kathmandu.
