This tour includes everything you need to enjoy a fantastic experience riding the scenic Karangahake Gorge and the historic townships of Waihi and Paeroa.
You'll be provided with premium quality e-bikes that are custom fitted to your needs before your ride. Lunch and morning afternoon teas include a mix of home baked goods and healthy snacks. All transport to and from the trail is provided in a comfortable modern air-conditioned shuttle van with your experienced guide at the wheel.

1 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeRide the well groomed and easy riding cycle trail from Waikino to the historic gold mine town of Waihi. Along the way you can view many of the historic sites from the peak of the Martha Gold mine's operating days including the Victoria Batteries where gold ore was broken down and processed before being transported out on the railway that now forms part of the trail you'll ride. You can take an optional tour to the Waikino museum and get a guided tour under the gold processing urns that were used to heat up gold ore before being processed. Ride beside the beautiful natural bubbling river all the way to Waihi. At its peak operating time this was the second largest gold mine in the world and is now a spectacular site to view from the top of the pit rim. Along the way you'll ride through one of the longest cycle accessible tunnels in the country, at 1.1km long the Karangahake tunnel is steeped in history and is an exciting element of the ride. Also take note of the historic railway bridges that you cross and marvel at the engineering that was achieved more than one hundred years ago to support the railway in this area.
