Highlights
Artisans of Ladakh are experts of making copper artifacts for hundreds of years. Sadly, this art is fading away and is now left limited to a few remote pockets in Ladakh. Through this tour, we want to revive this dying art and also help in improving the livelihood of the villagers. We will take you to the last remaining four Himalayan villages where this art is still practiced. Try you hands on making small pendants, engrave your name on copper plate, and just be creative with the artist himself. Take back a memorable souvenir for yourself.

Drive to Chilling Village

24 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeOur team of Mountain Homestays will pick you up from your hotel in Leh post breakfast, and head towards the cluster of villages where the generations of copper artists of Ladakh have been staying. Once entered the valley, we will visit Chilling Village situated along the Zanskar River and visit the copper museum. Trek to Sumda Chenmo

24 hoursAdmission Ticket FreePost breakfast, you will drive to Rangdoh and trek to the third copper village, Sumda-Chenmo. It is about an 11 km hike. You will trek at a comfortable pace with sufficient breaks in between. The trail is alongside a river stream through a beautiful valley. The total trek should take 5-6 hrs and you will reach the village by evening. Explore and learn the copper art
Markha Valley
24 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeSumda-Chenmo is a village situated in Markha Valley, where 4 copper artisans still practice the ancient art of making copper artifacts. You will do a study of this art interacting with the artisans, learning the techniques and the tools, and also try making a copper artifact. Sumda-Chenmo also has ancient Buddha statues that date back to the 11th century. The copper artists were settled in this area many years back to make beautiful artifacts for the monasteries in the region. Trek to Rangdoh Village & back to Leh
