    The buildings within Akarenga Park, initially constructed from 1900-1921, as storage warehouses for the Maizuru Naval Base, offer a glimpse into Japan’s historical industrial advancements.   • Kayabuki no Sato

    Wander through a village where many thatched-roofed houses, built 150 to 220 years ago during the Edo and Meiji periods, are wonderfully preserved. Out of about 50 houses, 39 maintain their traditional thatched roofs. The village, highly praised for preserving historical landscapes and traditional architectural techniques, has been designated an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. Community organizations actively participate in maintaining the historical ambiance and supporting residents' lives.
