Itinerary

Sofia-Plovdiv

  • Bachkovo Monastery

    Morning - the pick up could be from your hotel in Sofia city or directly from the Airport (Bus,Train station). 1.5 Hours drive will take us to Plovdiv area. There we will start with a visit of the second oldest monastery in Bulgaria - Bachkovo (founded 1083). We will need less than an hour to explore this holy place and learn more about the history, traditions and customs.

  • Assenova krepost (Asen's Fortress)

    20 Minutes drive from the monastery complex will take us to Asen's fortress - a stunning place from which you can make amazing pictures of the beautiful nature and ruins.

  • Plovdiv Old Town

    Another 30 minutes drive and we will be in Plovdiv - the EU Capital of Culture for 2019. After we check in our carefully selected hotel we will start walking the old town where we will visit: Revival style house museums, 2nd century Roman theatre, Roman stadium,some nice churches (19th century) and of course the oldest Mosque in this part of the Europe (1363–1364). The evening is reserved for exploring the "Capana"- place where you will visit the best restaurants, bars and pubs in the city.

Plovdiv-Nessebar

  • NAR "Kabile"

    After breakfast, we will head to the Black Sea coast. On the way, we will stop at NAR (National archaeological reserve) "Kabile" an old Roman military outpost, built next to one of the biggest Thracian cities from the pre-Roman period, with an interesting museum.

  • Old Nessebar

    In the afternoon, we will walk around the small island of Nessebar (Important Sea town from VI century BC, kept its glory in the Roman and Byzantine era.) exploring the ancient ruins. In the evening we will go (20 min drive) to the party Capital of the Black Sea (optional, upon desires) "Sunny Beach" - the atmosphere is modern and the clubs are one of the best! Overnight will be in the Old part of Nessebar, where you can feel the atmosphere of the ancient place, surrounded by the beautiful sea.

Nessebar-Varna

  • Varna Archaeological Museum

    This day is dedicated to the Black Sea. From Nessebar, we will drive to Varna (The Sea Capital of Bulgaria) where you will have the chance to visit the Archeological museum (The oldest gold treasury ever found in the World).

  • The Retro Museum In Varna

    We will visit also the Retro museum, which has the biggest collection of cars and stuff from the Communist period in Bulgaria.

  • Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin

    The afternoon will be dedicated to explore the Medieval fortress of "Tzarevets" (the King hill). Our night will be in cozy hotel in Veliko Tarnovo centre. Overnight.

  • Prohodna Cave

    This is our last day, but before we say goodbye you will be able to visit two of the most popular caves in this part of the country - "Prohodna cave" (Eyes of God) and "Saeva dupka"(the largest stalcton 60 meters in diameter). The location of these stunning natural wonderes is half way from Veliko Tarnovo to Sofia. Our lunch will be somewhere on the way but this will be your chance to try Serbian grill Bulgarian style.

    It is well laid out and accessible for tourists. Saeva Dupka cave consists of 400 meters of corridors and 5 galleries.

  • Sofia

    For dinner, we will be back in Sofia.
