It is one of the largest temples of South India and is dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. This was the capital of the Chola dynasty for over 250 years. The temple here is also dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its famous bronze sculptures. 1 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeAfter lunch drive to the town of Darasuram which is an hour’s drive from Gangaikonda Cholapuram. It is home to the well preserved Airavatesvara Temple. This stone temple is shaped like a chariot and contains sculptures of Gods from the Vedas and the Puranas. At the end of the tour you will be driven back to Thanjavur and dropped-off at your hotel.
