Tanant is a small town and rural commune in Azilal Province, Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Morocco. At the time of the 2004 census, the commune had a total population of 10,007 people living in 1730 households.[1] The town is home to a historic French fort, which was used as a military base during the Protectorate. It is situated at the base of the High Atlas Mountains and is known today for its production of olives, olive oil, honey, and almonds. There is a primary school, middle school, and high school along with several Islamic pre-schools and women's literacy programs.
