Highlights
Rise 107 meters above Hakodate at the iconic Goryokaku Tower, where the observation deck offers sweeping views of the stunning star-shaped Goryokaku Park, a historic site dating back to the late 1800s. Originally built as a Western-style fortress over a 7-year period, the unique design of Goryokaku is best appreciated from above—and this tower gives you the perfect vantage point.
Marvel at seasonal landscapes: delicate cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, fiery maple leaves in autumn, and a snow-blanketed fortress in winter. From the tower, you’ll also enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Hakodate, the Tsugaru Strait, and the surrounding cityscape.
After taking in the views, explore the gift shop and art gallery near the tower to pick up local souvenirs and cultural insights. No matter the season, a visit to Goryokaku Tower promises a memorable and scenic experience that captures the historical charm and natural beauty of Hakodate.

Very nice. Easy to get the ticket and hassle free
The queue was super long even with an online purchase , you’ll still need to collect the physical tickets, producing the Voucher# from your email. Crowded n stuffy up on the observatory level & most of the exhibits & history were in Japanese. The star-shaped defence was a great marvel of history though.
