A popular Thai saying goes, “If you haven’t seen Doi Suthep, you haven’t been to Chiang Mai.” The saying reflects the temple’s importance as one of the city’s most beloved cultural and spiritual landmarks. Take the cable car up to the temple. At the top, admire the magnificent Lanna-style golden pagoda, beautifully decorated with engraved gold plates and flanked by four ornamental umbrellas. The trip is also worth it for the stunning views alone.
