Highlights
One of the most popular and most visited of these is the intriguing Bindabasini Temple. This striking temple looks calmly over the bustling city of Pokhara. It is of great religious importance to Hindus living in the Pokhara region. The temple itself is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Durga, who is Pokhara’s chosen guardian deity.
Seti River Gorges is one of the natural wonder of Pokhara. K.I. Singh bridge provides a perfect view of the river's dreadful rush and the deep gorge made by the turbulent flow of white water.
Gurkha Musuem reflects the background of the Gurkha soldiers who live mostly in the hills and lead a harsh life that makes them one of the best soldiers in the world. There are displays of uniforms, medals, khukri (Gurkha knife), photographs and military items.
Mahendra Cave is the large limestone cave. It is a rare example of a cave system in Nepal containing stalagmites and stalactites. A statue of Hindu lord Shiva can be found inside the cave.
Itinerary
Shree Bindhyabasini Temple
30 minsAdmission Ticket Included10:30 am or 1:30 pm: Your Expert guide picks you up form Hotel Lobby and drive for half day Pokhara sightseeing tour. The ancient Bindhya Basini Temple sits atop a small hill in Old Pokhara. Founded in the 17th century, the temple is sacred to Durga, the warlike incarnation of Parvati, worshipped here in the form of a saligram (a fossilised ammonite shell, considered a sacred form of the Hindu god Vishnu).Seti River Gourge
30 minsAdmission Ticket IncludedThe roaring Seti River passes right through Pokhara, but you won’t see it unless you go looking. The river has carved a deep, narrow chasm through the middle of town, turning the water milky white in the process. The best place to catch a glimpse of the Seti River is the park just north of Old Pokhara near the Gurkha Museum.Gurkha Memorial Museum
1 hoursAdmission Ticket IncludedLocated just north of Mahendra Pul, near the KI Singh Bridge, the Gurkha Museum celebrates the achievements of the renowned Gurkha regiments. Accompanied by sound effects, it covers Gurkha history from the 19th-century Indian Uprising, through two World Wars to current-day disputes and peace-keeping missions, with a fascinating display on Gurkhas who have been awarded the Victoria Cross medal.Mahendra Cave
45 minsAdmission Ticket IncludedNear Bat Cave is the underwhelming Mahendra Gufa, the first large cave to be discovered in Pokhara. The first 125m of the cave is lit only to reveal dusty vandalised limestone formations, some revered as Shiva lingams. Beyond the electric lights there are bats. 02:00 pm or 5:00 pm: Sightseeing ends and drop back to Hotel.
