In the old town of Taichung, along the banks of the Luchuan Canal—once known
as the 'Little Kyoto'—stands a century-old red-brick building. As you ascend
the stairs, rows of wooden trusses intersect with modern steel structures,
illuminated by cascading copper chandeliers, where the new and the old shine
in harmony. Zui Yue Lou is the most secluded and beautiful restaurant in the
city, bar none. If the Jianguo Market is the kitchen of Taichung, then Zui Yue
Lou is the hip-hop-humming chef within that kitchen.
It is especially worth mentioning that Zui Yue Lou serves as the perfect base
for exploring nearby hidden gems on foot. For instance, if you want to
challenge yourself with all of Taichung's frozen treats, the Fourth Credit
Cooperative offers top-tier 'credit'; if you wish to escape the hustle and
bustle for a quiet moment, a rare and exquisite tea bar, Acornpoet, is located
