Highlights
What makes this birdwatching experience truly special is the incredible diversity of ecosystems and wildlife you can explore in one unforgettable private eco-adventure in Costa Rica. From the wetlands of Palo Verde National Park to the lush Tenorio rainforest, this tour offers amazing opportunities for birdwatching, wildlife photography, and close encounters with tropical species such as toucans, trogons, tanagers, roseate spoonbills, herons, hawks, and even sloths. Unlike crowded group tours, this is a completely private experience with your own expert naturalist and birding guide, allowing you to explore at your own pace while we adapt the experience to your interests and photography goals. What truly sets us apart is our passion and experience. We genuinely love what we do, and our mission is to provide more than just a tour — we create authentic, meaningful, and unforgettable connections with Costa Rica’s incredible wildlife and nature.
Itinerary
Guanacaste Province
Palo Verde is a good place to start because it offers a variety of natural bird habitats, including wetlands, grasslands and a dry forest. The Rio Tempisque runs through here. During the rainy fall season it floods, creating a broad marsh area that attracts many migrating birds. You’ll see some beautiful birds here, including snowy white herons, roseate spoonbills and green-backed herons. Also look for great egrets, glossy ibis, black-bellied whistling ducks and blue-winged teals. The Tenorio rainforest is not only known for being the best place in Costa Rica to see sloth, it's also one of the birders and photographers favorite places for bird watching. Situated between the Miravalles and Tenorio Volcanoes, that is technically a Caribbean Slope location but has the distinct advantage of getting crossover species from the dry forests of Guanacaste. For those less familiar with neotropical bird life, Toucans, Trogons, falcons, eagles, hawk, Aracaris, Tanagers and Honeycreepers, many of them brightly colored, may be seen around the Tenorio rainforest, For the more experienced birder, Bijagua is the place to see Tody Motmot and Rufous-vented Ground-Cuckoo.
