Attraction Highlights
Winter | Blue Pond Illumination, Ningle Terrace, and Winter-Only Snowmobile
Experience
- Shirogane Blue Pond Illumination
The name "Shirogane" (platinum) suggests something precious and beautiful. On
winter nights the Blue Pond is lit up, and the silvery snow, dreamy blue
light, water, and bare trees create a fairytale snow scene. As the lighting
changes, the pond shows a mysterious side quite different from summer, a
romantic winter highlight of any Hokkaido trip.

Ningle Terrace
Deep in the Furano forest lies a small village like something out of a
fairytale. Legend says nature-loving little forest spirits called "Ningle"
live here, turning the forest's inspiration into one-of-a-kind handicrafts.
Walk the wooden boardwalks past cozy cabins, twinkling lights, and Hokkaido
handmade crafts, and feel the gentlest side of Furano in winter.Biei Christmas Tree
One of Biei's most iconic views: a single conifer standing alone on a hill
that looks like a natural Christmas tree in winter. Its simple charm against
Biei's wide rolling hills makes it a must-photograph spot for many visitors.Biei Chiyoda Farm (*limited snowmobile activity)
A winter-only snow playground with plenty of fun. Ride a snowmobile across
pure white snowfields with the Tokachi Mountains in the distance, or meet
miniature horses and alpacas up close for a relaxing Hokkaido ranch
experience.Shirahige Falls
Groundwater seeps slowly from cracks in the rock face and falls gently like a
white beard, forming the unique Shirahige ("white beard") Falls. The clear
water flows into the blue Biei River and contrasts with the pure white winter
snow, creating a dreamlike scene and one of the Biei area's favorite photo
spots.
Summer | Lavender Fields, Melon, and Countryside Scenery
Farm Tomita
Famous for its garden landscape that combines wave-like bands of colorful
flowers with fields of different lavender varieties. At the farm entrance
you'll find Furano specialties such as melon, honey pudding, lavender pudding,
melon ice cream, and lavender ice cream, with long tables and benches for
resting and eating. The farm's gift shop sells dried lavender, essential oils,
perfume, cosmetics, scented pillows, and other lavender products made in
Furano. Lavender usually blooms from late June to early August; actual bloom
conditions apply.Shikisai-no-Oka
Located in Biei, Hokkaido, Shikisai-no-Oka has vast gardens with more than 30
kinds of seasonal flowers that bloom in turn from April to October, stretching
into the distance like a colorful carpet. Ride the park train through the
flower fields, see the romantic heart-shaped beds and sweeping views, and
enjoy Hokkaido's nature surrounded by the scent of flowers.Biei Blue Pond
Set on the left bank of the Biei River at about 500 meters above sea level,
Shirogane Blue Pond is one of Hokkaido's most popular sights. Depending on
light, season, weather, and surroundings, the water turns a clear bright blue
or shifts to other shades, and together with the lakeside forest and standing
dead trees it creates a unique, dreamlike scene.Patchwork Road
At first glance it looks like a fairytale European countryside. Stroll over
the rolling hills or cycle through them with a fresh breeze on your face.Furano Countryside Farm Restaurant
This restaurant in rural Furano is closely tied to the land and its farms, and
its chefs cook in traditional ways so every bite reflects the local soil and
nature. Guests on the meal + melon package enjoy a generous buffet with all-
you-can-eat melon; guests without a meal package can order classic Japanese
dishes such as ramen, soba, and curry rice.
(Selected packages) Lunch: All-You-Can-Eat Melon
Melon is Hokkaido's most famous summer treat. The large, sweet, and juicy
local melons melt in your mouth and are a must-try in Hokkaido.
Flower Season Guide
- Late May to June: lupines, tulips, and canola flowers bloom one after another, opening the early summer season.
- July to early August: lavender, salvia, and cosmos are in full bloom, Furano's most iconic flower season.
- Late August to September: sunflowers and zinnias take over as the countryside turns toward early autumn.
- October to mid-October: marigolds set off the autumn mountains, and some areas show early autumn leaves against golden hills.
Bloom times vary with each year's weather and temperatures, and every period offers a different countryside view. Thank you for your understanding.
Scenery changes with the season. Product images show each spot in its best season for reference only; actual scenery depends on conditions on the day.
