The temple, also known as El Deir el Bahari, was later used as a Coptic monastery by early Christians. Unlike other temples in the area, this one was constructed with limestone and partly carved into the bedrock. It boasts three terraces and is focused on telling the story of the queen's divine birth.   The final leg of your tour will take you to the Colossi of Memnon. These are two massive statues that represent King Amenhotep III, from the 18th Dynasty of Egypt. Positioned to the west of modern-day Luxor, the statues face east, towards the Nile River. Admire the king's likeness, seated on a throne, accompanied by carvings of his mother, his wife, and symbolic engravings of the gods Hapi and Nile. The statues were carved from a single block of sandstone and named after the Greek hero, Memnon, who fought in the Trojan War.
