- Attraction Introduction -
Located in Sunshine City, Ikebukuro, Tokyo, the Ancient Orient Museum is the
first museum in Japan dedicated to the ancient Orient. Its collection includes
artifacts from Western Asia and Egypt, as well as archaeological materials and
artworks related to the Silk Road that connected the civilizations of the East
and West across the Eurasian continent. Additionally, the museum displays
items excavated from archaeological sites in Syria.
- Exhibition Introduction -
The 'Collection Exhibition' features items from the museum's own collection
and those on loan. As a crossroads of Africa, Europe, and Asia, the 'Orient'
served as a melting pot of diverse cultures and played a significant role in
the development of human history. By viewing the artifacts and artworks left
behind by the ancient Orient, you can get a closer feel for the lives of
people in ancient times.
Limited-time exhibition: 2026/9/19 - 2026/12/6
The Golden Week special project 'Ancient Orient Museum Special Week: Hands-on
Fun in the Ancient Orient' will be held.
The venue will feature an interactive 'Hands-on Quiz' where you can touch
replicas of exhibits, as well as a puzzle activity to experience the pottery
restoration process, making it a special experience zone exclusive to Golden
Week. Both adults and children can easily engage with and learn about the
history and culture of the ancient Orient through these hands-on experiences.
