Highlights
You will see more scenic beauty & experience nature better on a bike tour than by car. This tour is delivered only by myself, Alasdair and my local colleagues. I am the business owner of Visit Oxford Tours. However, for insurance purposes, these tours are actually booked to be conducted privately via myself as a self employed sole trader offering you a personal service. They are not delivered as a product delivered by Visit Oxford Tours Ltd. This legal distinction will be reconfirmed in writing whenever any booking is received.
Default itinerary is 10am to 5.30pm.
The Cotswolds is a scenic part of England located only 10 minutes by train from Oxford or less than 30 minutes tax ride from Oxford. Oxford is only 60 minutes from London Paddington station. It's my pleasure to share these sights & heritage with you on an active cycling tour.
Participants must be fit and aged 14+ as the Cotswolds roads are lots of up and down cycling but the scenery plus the villages here are beautiful.
Itinerary
North Leigh Roman Villa
20 minsAdmission Ticket FreeWe will stop here for a brief visit to see the ruins of the sizeable Roman villa. This part of England also has many roads built on what were originally Roman roads. This site is free entry and it's about 4 miles cycle from our start point.Crawley(Pass by)
Admission Ticket FreeCrawley is just one of several very picturesque little villages of hamlets which we pass through on the route. You can see many gorgeous traditional Cotswolds stone cottages and quaint gardens in these villages.Wilcote(Pass by)
Admission Ticket FreeThis is another scenic village we may pass through. If needed for a drink or a lunch stop, Wilcote also has a pub.Minster Lovell
1 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeYou can see some truly beautifully preserved cottage lanes here and there is also the option to stop for drinks or lunch here too but the main attraction is the ruins of the medieval Minster Lovell manor home and priory.Burford
1 hours 30 minsAdmission Ticket FreeBurford is commonly known as, 'the gateway to the Cotswolds', thanks partly to its location and to its very historic high street. In fact, this village has appeared in several historic tv dramas on BBC TV. Burford has lots of cafes and shops and we could stop here for afternoon tea, if desired.Swinbrook
30 minsAdmission Ticket FreeAnother very scenic location for a small village
