Embark on a special day trip from Fukuoka to witness the heart of Kyushu's grand nature and the romantic charm of a traditional onsen town.
This tour allows you to feel the raw power of an active volcano by day and the warm, magical glow of bamboo lanterns by night.
Your journey begins at Kusasenri, a vast, sprawling grassland where you can experience an overwhelming sense of openness. During the winter months, you may be lucky enough to see this plain transformed into a stunning snow-covered landscape, offering a perfect chance to capture unforgettable photos with the majestic, smoking Nakadake Crater in the background.
Next, you'll get up close to the Nakadake Crater, an active volcano that is truly alive. Witness the awe-inspiring sight of the emerald-green crater lake and the powerful plumes of volcanic smoke, feeling the raw energy of the earth.
(Please note: Access to the crater is subject to closure based on real-time volcanic gas levels and weather conditions. If the crater is inaccessible, we will visit the magnificent Daikanbo Peak instead, the premier observatory for a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire Aso caldera and its 'Five Peaks'.)
The absolute highlight of the tour awaits at Kurokawa Onsen, one of Japan's most atmospheric and famous hot spring towns. As dusk falls, you will experience the 'Yu-Akari' winter light-up event, held exclusively from December to March. The town river is adorned with approximately 300 round, glowing bamboo lanterns, creating a fantastically warm and romantic atmosphere(For February and March, night view availability is subject to change depending on the sunset time.). Stroll through the rustic, traditional streets, soak in the magical scenery, and feel the charm of a Japanese winter night. You may also choose to take a quick dip in one of the local onsens during your free time.
