- Yakatabune (Houseboat)
The earliest form of the Yakatabune appeared in the Heian period, primarily
used by the nobility for leisure. By the Edo period, many feudal lords and
wealthy merchants used them for moon viewing, flower viewing, and watching
fireworks. In modern times, people mostly use them for drinking, dining, and
social gatherings. During the cherry blossom season and fireworks festivals,
they are highly sought after! Cruising through Tokyo's most popular tourist
spots, Asakusa and Odaiba, you will see a completely different side of these
areas. With a gentle river breeze and ever-changing beautiful scenery, enjoy a
view of the Edo-Shitamachi landscape from a different perspective and
experience a unique side of Tokyo!
