Booked it on the previous day of my travel, thanks to Pelago team - they took my case as priority and delivered the Pass right on time as I reach Switzerland. Regarding the pass, it’s the best with Kids - no need to worry about getting any more tickets at the station & can run to catch the last min. Train. Also, free museums - boat rides & to activities including Barryland. Best one - I recommend. (Unless u want to save few bucks with inconvenience)

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between the Swiss Travel Pass Consecutive and Flex?
The Swiss Travel Pass lets you use the pass on 3, 4, 6, 8, or 15 consecutive days only. What that means, basically, is that the pass is only valid for a set number of days. This validity starts on the date you activate it. Whether or not you travel on those days, the pass will be activated and will end depending on the number of travel days you select.

The Swiss Travel Pass Flex, on the other hand, is flexible, as its name suggests. It allows you to pick 3, 4, 6, 8, or 15 non-consecutive days within a one-month period. Non-consecutive is the keyword here. Only the days you travel on are counted, and you don't have to use the pass daily to reach your selected number of travel days.

The Swiss Travel Pass Consecutive is great for travellers who have packed itineraries and will use the pass daily. On the flip side, the Swiss Travel Pass Flex is ideal for travellers who have longer trips and want more flexibility in their itinerary.
Can I use the Swiss Travel Pass on all modes of transportation in Zurich?
Yes, the Swiss Travel Pass allows unlimited travel on trains, buses, trams, and boats within Zurich and throughout Switzerland.
What does the Swiss Travel Pass include?
The Swiss Travel Pass's coverage is extensive, to say the least. The pass covers unlimited travel on train, bus, and boat trips, as well as local transport in over 90 cities.

You can also ride some of the most scenic train rides in the country. Yes, you can hop on premium panoramic trains, including the Glacier Express, the world's slowest express train, that'll whisk you to UNESCO World Heritage Sites and beyond.

Besides transport, you can enjoy free admission to over 500 museums, including iconic Chillon Castle, the Swiss National Museum in Zurich, and the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne.

Other benefits include accessing mountains like Rigi, Stanserhorn, and Stoos for free, and a 50% discount on most other mountain railways and cable cars - for example, the Grindelwald First cable car, the Harder Kulm funicular, and the cogwheel railway to Schynige Platte.
Where and how do I get my tickets validated?
Your Swiss Travel Pass needs to show your full name, passport number, and signature to be valid.

If you’re using the Swiss Travel Pass Flex, simply write the date of your next travel day in the blank field before you start your journey. Just make sure it’s within your selected travel period.
Does the Swiss Travel Pass Flex include free museum entry for the whole month?
No. Free museum entry and other perks only apply on the days you’ve marked as active travel days.
Do I need to make seat reservations with the Swiss Travel Pass?
Seat reservations are not required for most trains in Switzerland, but they are recommended for popular routes or during peak travel times.
Can I use the Swiss Travel Pass to visit museums and attractions in Zurich?
Yes, the Swiss Travel Pass includes free admission to over 500 museums and attractions in Switzerland, including many in Zurich.
Is the Swiss Travel Pass valid for travel to other cities from Zurich?
Yes, the Swiss Travel Pass allows unlimited travel on the Swiss Travel System network, which covers most major cities and destinations in Switzerland.
Can I use the Swiss Travel Pass for discounts on mountain excursions from Zurich?
Yes, the Swiss Travel Pass offers discounts on many mountain excursions, including cable cars, funiculars, and cogwheel trains in the Swiss Alps.
What's the difference between the Swiss Travel Pass and the Swiss Half Fare Card?
With the Swiss Travel Pass, you can travel free of charge for either 3, 4, 6, 8, or 15 consecutive days. There's also the option of buying the pass for the same set of non-consecutive days within a 30-day period.

For instance, you get to use either 3 or 8 days split within a month without using the pass in a row. The Swiss Travel Pass is also great if you have a fixed itinerary and want to pack multiple experiences into a set duration.

The Swiss Half Fare Card, on the other hand, is an e-ticket that gives you a 50% discount on individual tickets for trains, buses, boats, and most mountain transport for one month. It's better suited for those with shorter trips or if you prefer flexibility in your itinerary.

If you'd like to find out more about the differences, we have a complete guide on the Swiss Half Fare Card vs the Swiss Travel Pass.
Where can I buy the Swiss Travel Pass?
You can buy the Swiss Travel Pass online through Pelago or official sources like the Switzerland Travel Centre before your trip.

Best of all? No activation of the pass is required. Once purchased, you can either use your pass as an e-ticket for immediate use or choose to print it out - the choice is yours.
How much is the Swiss Travel Pass?
Well, Swiss Travel Pass prices depend on duration (3, 4, 6, 8, or 15 days) and class - either first or second. But generally, adult passes start from around CHF 246 (consecutive) and CHF 299 (flex) for 3 days in second class.

There are also Swiss Travel Pass youth and children perks when travelling with a Swiss Family Card (which is free to add).

For example, toddlers aged 5 years and below, and children aged 6 to 15 can travel for free when accompanied by at least one parent with a valid Swiss Travel Pass. Young adults aged 16 to 24 will have to pay the discounted price of CHF 185 for second class (consecutive) and CHF 211 for second class (flex) for 3 days.

Ultimately, prices will fluctuate, so do check them before your trip.
How to use the Swiss Travel Pass?
It's pretty simple. All you've got to do is get your digital pass on your phone. Then, it's really just a matter of boarding any train, bus, or boat by showing your pass's QR code to the ticket inspector when requested. No activation steps required.

As for how to use the Swiss Travel Pass on a bus, it's the same - just show your digital pass to the conductor. However, take note that for special buses like the Palm Express, a mandatory seat reservation is required for the route.
Is the Swiss Travel Pass worth it?
The Swiss Travel Pass is definitely worth it if you're taking long-distance trains. Think premium panoramic ones like the Glacier Express or Bernina Express (although you'd have to pay for mandatory seat reservation fees).

Mountain excursions are either free or discounted, and that can save you plenty, especially if you're visiting a pricey region like Jungfraujoch.

Not only that. When it comes to city travel, public transport is fully covered, so how’s that for convenience?

And if you still need convincing, the museum aspect of the pass - which is highly underrated - covers fares for some really good museums in the country. So, there are truly plenty of reasons why this pass is worth forking out the money for.
