It is mentioned in the write up of this activity that “Although papal audience tickets are free, organizing it all yourself can take precious time out of your trip to Rome. Save some hassle by joining this small group, secure a great place to watch the pope make his way to the stage” this is totally untrue and it is a scam! After paying for this, received instruction to go to the site to meet up with the staff to collect the tickets at 7.45 am for the 8am event. We arrived there at 7.30am and already saw a long queue forming for security checks to enter the event. We had to walk to and fro looking for the staff who only turned up at 7.45am. By then, the queue got longer. Then the unfriendly staff made us wait a little longer, then just issued us a blue “ticket” for papal audience, And she only issued us one ticket instead of two, when we asked why only one, she looked irritated and said no ticket is required for the papal event and that the blue ticket is just a souvenir??? She then passed us a receipt for the St Peter’s tour and told us to meet the tour guide at 11.15am at the same place. Then, us and the other participants expected her to bring us in for the event to cut through the queue and good seats, but she looked irritated by our question and said entry for the papal audience is free and we are entering a church, so we just need to join the already increased queue to go in!! Her attitude was very dismissive!! By then, when we were asked to join the queue, we were already so much further than if we had joined the queue at 7.30am!! And due to this unnecessary process, we missed the starting of the event and ended up sitting much further than if we had done it on our own!! And because of the need to join the guided tour for St Peter’s basilica, we couldn’t stay till the end of the papal audience event! Only the guided tour for the St Peter’s Basilica by Hilaria was good, however, do also note that we were also made to join the public queue to enter the Basilica.. so how much time the guide has with you inside the basilica is dependent on how long it takes you to enter it as regardless, the guided tour will end at 1.30pm! After that you are on your own to look around.. overall the price we paid is actually just for the tour guide which is €28 per person!! Too much! I repeat, I feel scammed by joining this activity!! Please be more truthful in your itinerary details!!
