Itinerary

  • 14-28 Yochōmachi

    You will listen to the shamisen performance of a performer who has won the Tsugaru Shamisen World Tournament group championship, and play the shamisen yourself. Feel the unique, deep tone of the shamisen, and learn to play a piece by yourself. Gentle instruction will be provided, so beginners are welcome. *Program Flow How to hold the shamisen How to play using a pick (bachi) Learn an easy song Introduction to advanced techniques Listen to shamisen music Explanation of the shamisen's structure Play one song together with the teacher Photo/Video time *About the Program The program uses the Tsugaru Shamisen, the most famous and powerful-sounding of all shamisen instruments. You can take photos and videos during your performance and share them on social networking sites. Licensed instructors are available in English and other languages. (French and Spanish available upon request.) Children and families are welcome. This program is also suitable for educational purposes such as for students, schools, corporate training, language programs, and academic institutions.
