This partially- guided workshop by artist Sonia Ong is for students of beginner and intermediate level who know the basics of calligraphy and ink technique but wish to work on their style and practice. Sonia will determine your goals and ability level ahead of the session and customise exercises and references to help you to achieve your goals during this practice session.
Pre-session dialogue, assignment and reference with Q and A time during 1 hour 30min practice session with snack and free flow tea.

This fully-guided workshop by artist Sonia Ong gives a complete beginner’s introduction to Chinese calligraphy technique. Learn and practice the technique to calligraphic writing and what is acceptable or not by tradition. Create, improve or perfect your writing control and style with practice sheets. Contribute to a collaborative poem with fellow participants. Finish your session with a mini-version of our original calligraphy art jam. Snack and free flow tea.

- This is an art jam session, not a formal calligraphy lesson.
- Minimum of 4 participants required for the session to proceed. If not met, participants will be notified at least one day in advance for rescheduling.
- Does not include the Baroque House shophouse tour. Please book separately for that experience.
- Open to all participants aged 16 and above.
- Participants below 16 years old must be accompanied by a paying adult.
- Valid photo ID for verification.

- Comfortable clothing suitable for art activities.
- Venue is located in a heritage shophouse and may have limited wheelchair accessibility.
