Known for its stunning beaches, dramatic viewpoints and unique landscapes, the region offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. Located just 45 km south of Lisbon, the park covers approximately 10,800 hectares across the municipalities of Setúbal, Palmela and Sesimbra. Its mountain range reaches an altitude of 501 metres and includes several peaks, such as Serra da Arrábida, Serra do Risco and Serra de São Luís. Today, Arrábida is celebrated for its exceptional biodiversity, pristine coastline and unforgettable panoramic views, making it one of Portugal’s most beautiful and protected natural areas.
  • Portinho da Arrabida

    30 minsAdmission Ticket Free
Portinho da Arrábida is one of the most beautiful and iconic beaches in Portugal, nestled at the foot of the Arrábida Mountains within the Arrábida Natural Park. Surrounded by lush green hills and crystal-clear turquoise waters, it offers a truly breathtaking setting. Known for its calm, transparent waters, Portinho is a paradise for nature lovers, swimmers and snorkeling enthusiasts. The beach is located near the small fishing hamlet of Portinho da Arrábida and is complemented by nearby beaches such as Creiro and Alpertuche. In 2010, Portinho da Arrábida was recognized as one of the "Seven Natural Wonders of Portugal" in the Beaches category, further cementing its reputation as one of the country's most extraordinary coastal destinations.
  • Mercado do Livramento

    30 minsAdmission Ticket Free
The Livramento Market was inaugurated in 1930, replacing an older market that had been demolished in 1876. Following a major renovation between 2010 and 2011, it became one of Portugal’s most iconic food markets. Inside, visitors can admire beautiful tile panels created by Portuguese artist Pedro Pinto in 1929, depicting the region’s traditional economic activities. Additional tile panels by Rosa Rodrigues, dating from 1944, decorate the northern entrance. In 2014, the American newspaper USA Today recognized Livramento Market as one of the best fish markets in the world.
  • Church of the former Monastery of Jesus

    15 minsAdmission Ticket Free
The Convent and Church of Jesus are considered important milestones in Portuguese architecture, marking the beginning of the Manueline style. Built between 1490 and 1496 under the direction of architect Diogo Boitaca, who later worked on landmarks such as Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower and Batalha Monastery, the church introduced innovative architectural solutions for its time. The Church of Jesus is regarded as Portugal’s first hall church, designed as a bright and harmonious space, featuring elegant stone vaults, rounded arches and pioneering structural techniques that influenced Portuguese architecture for centuries.
  • Forte de Sao Filipe

    45 minsAdmission Ticket Free
The Fort of São Filipe is one of Setúbal’s most iconic landmarks and a must-see attraction. Built in 1583 under the orders of King Philip II of Spain and designed by military engineer Giovanni Vincenzo Casale (known as Captain Fratino), the fortress was constructed to protect Setúbal, the Sado Estuary and the Portuguese coastline from pirate attacks. Its distinctive six-pointed star-shaped design reflects the military engineering of the period and played an important role in strengthening the coastal defenses of Portugal. Today, beyond its fascinating history, the fort is renowned for offering one of the most spectacular panoramic views over Setúbal, the Sado Bay and the Arrábida coastline.
  • Castelo de Palmela

    45 minsAdmission Ticket Free
Palmela Castle stands on one of the highest points of the Arrábida region, offering spectacular views over the Setúbal Peninsula. During the Christian Reconquest, it became an important defensive stronghold and was granted to the Order of Santiago in the 12th century. The castle was later restored and expanded by Portuguese kings, serving as the headquarters of the Order of Santiago from 1443 until the dissolution of the religious orders in 1834.
  • Santuario Nacional de Cristo Rei

    45 minsAdmission Ticket Free
The Christ the King Monument (Cristo Rei) is one of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks. Its construction was inspired by a vow made by the Portuguese bishops in 1940 to build a monument dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus if Portugal were spared from the devastation of World War II. As Portugal remained neutral throughout the war, a nationwide fundraising campaign was launched, leading to the inauguration of the monument in 1959. Standing 113 metres high above the Tagus River, Cristo Rei offers breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views over Lisbon, Almada and the surrounding region. At the base of the monument, within its four pillars symbolizing the four cardinal points, visitors can find the Chapel of Our Lady of Peace, reinforcing the monument’s message of faith, gratitude and peace.
