Chocolate Hills
The Chocolate Hills are a geological formation located in the Bohol province of the Philippines. This unique landscape consists of at least 1,260 hills, although some estimates suggest there could be as many as 1,776. The hills are covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season, resembling chocolate mounds, hence the name. These symmetrical hills rise to about 30 to 50 meters in height and are spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometers. The Chocolate Hills are not only a natural wonder but also a significant cultural symbol for the people of Bohol. They are a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from around the globe who come to marvel at their beauty and take stunning photographs. The area is also home to various species of flora and fauna, making it a great spot for nature lovers. Visitors can explore the hills through designated viewing points, which offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The Chocolate Hills are a UNESCO World Heritage Site candidate, highlighting their importance and the need for conservation efforts.
