Day 1: Queenstown to Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park
Embark on an unforgettable private adventure from the vibrant hub of
Queenstown, a haven for thrill-seekers and nature enthusiasts alike. After a
brief orientation tour of the town, we'll journey through the historic gold-
mining village of Arrowtown, steeped in tales of the gold rush era. Our route
then takes us over the scenic Lindis Pass, where the dramatic landscape of the
Otago province unfolds before you.
We'll pass through the unique "Clay Cliffs," a striking example of New
Zealand's badlands, before heading north to Omarama, renowned for its world-
class gliding opportunities. Arriving in the Mackenzie Country, you'll be
captivated by the stunning natural beauty that surrounds you. Our final
destination for the day is Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, home to New
Zealand's highest peak, Aoraki/Mount Cook, towering at 3,754 meters. Here, you
can choose to explore the park's alpine wonders on guided walks, soak in the
breathtaking vistas, or embark on a leisurely stroll to the Tasman Glacier,
the longest glacier in a temperate zone.
Day 2: Leisure Day in Aoraki/Mount Cook or Lake Tekapo
Today is yours to unwind and discover the region's unique offerings. Choose
between Aoraki/Mount Cook or the picturesque Lake Tekapo for your day's
activities. At Aoraki/Mount Cook, you can embark on exhilarating glacier
flights, scenic boat trips, or explore the alpine wonderland on foot. If you
prefer a more relaxed pace, Lake Tekapo offers soothing hot pools and the
opportunity to witness the wonders of the night sky at the world-famous
observatory.
Day 3: Aoraki/Mount Cook to Christchurch
As we bid farewell to Aoraki/Mount Cook, our journey takes us alongside the
mesmerizing turquoise waters of Lake Pukaki and Lake Tekapo. We'll then
traverse the Mackenzie Basin, a high-country expanse named after a legendary
sheep rustler, before crossing Burke's Pass and winding through charming
country towns that capture the essence of the South Island. Our adventure
concludes in Christchurch, where you'll have time to reflect on the stunning
landscapes and unforgettable experiences of your personalised journey.
