Highlights

An easy and enjoyable course that lets you fully experience winter scenery and leisure spots unique to Hokkaido.

●Takino Snow World
Located on the outskirts of Sapporo, Takino Snow World is a leisure destination where you can fully enjoy the Hokkaido winter. Across the vast snow covered grounds, a wide variety of activities are available for everyone from beginners to experienced visitors, including snow tubing, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. One of the most popular attractions is the long snow tubing course, where joyful cheers can be heard from both children and adults as they slide down together. In addition to snow play, winter nature walks are also a highlight, allowing you to enjoy the fresh air and the magnificent landscapes that are characteristic of Hokkaido.

●Snow Moai Statues and Hill of the Buddha at Takino Cemetery
Takino Cemetery is a sightseeing spot that takes on a magical appearance in winter. The giant Moai statues standing throughout the grounds become even more mysterious when covered in snow, creating an experience that feels as if you have stepped into another world. Another must see attraction is the Hill of the Buddha, designed by world renowned architect Tadao Ando. An additional admission fee is required. The beauty of the concrete architecture harmonizing with the snowy scenery is truly impressive, and the quietly standing Great Buddha leaves a deep impression on visitors. This is a special place where culture and art come together, offering solemn winter scenery unique to Hokkaido.

●Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill
Located just a short distance from central Sapporo, Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill is a popular sightseeing spot offering panoramic views of Hokkaido’s vast snow covered landscapes. Under the clear winter sky, the endless expanse of white creates a scene that perfectly represents Hokkaido. The site is also home to the statue of Dr. William S. Clark, famous for the phrase “Boys, be ambitious,” and is a classic photo spot. The peaceful pastoral scenery of sheep grazing, combined with a panoramic view of the city of Sapporo in the background, brings a sense of relaxation and inspiration to visitors. It is a place where you can truly experience the quiet beauty of winter.

The activities in these tour is just appropriate for a day tour. We were the only participants during our tour, good thing they still allow us to utlitise the bus. The allocated time for Hill of Buddha should’ve been longer as there are 2 attractions involved. The tour guide, even though not English speaker, still put some effort to translate using the translator app. It would be good to have English tour guide also in the future.
