Touch down in serenity at Middlehurst Station, a remote and picturesque high-
country farm nestled in the Awatere Valley. This family-run station spans
thousands of hectares and is renowned for its fine wool Merino sheep and Angus
cattle, raised with care and tradition in one of New Zealand’s most pristine
environments.

Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by the station owners—fourth-generation
custodians of the land—who will share stories of life on the farm and their
passion for sustainable agriculture. Enjoy a delicious lunch crafted from
locally sourced ingredients, served in the homestead or outdoors with
panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

After lunch, hop aboard an ATV for a guided tour of the station. Traverse
rolling hills, riverbeds, and open pastures as you learn about the daily
workings of the farm. A highlight of the tour is a sheep dog demonstration,
where you’ll witness the incredible skill and teamwork between dog and
shepherd in managing the flock.

As the afternoon winds down, board your helicopter once more for a scenic
flight back to Kaikōura, soaking in the golden light over the ranges and
coastline—a perfect end to a day of adventure, connection, and discovery.
